This page is a structural placeholder. It has not been written or reviewed by a data protection officer or legal counsel, and it does not yet describe YAIRN’s actual commitments. Do not rely on it.

Terms of Participation

Last updated: Not yet published

Who can take part

TODO — State that YAIRN is invite-only and that students take part through a participating school.

Drafting note (from engineering)

All student participants are 16 or older (ADR 0004). That criterion is enforced by schools when they invite students — the platform does not collect a date of birth and does not verify age. Word this section so it does not imply otherwise.

What you can expect from us

TODO — Describe what the platform provides and any availability commitments.

How to behave here

TODO — Set out the community expectations — respect, no bullying, no sharing of others’ personal information, no impersonation — in language a 16-year-old will actually read.

Your work stays yours

TODO — Confirm students keep ownership of what they create, and set out the limited licence the project needs to display it. The memo specifically flags Indigenous content and time-bounded sharing as needing care here.

Drafting note (from engineering)

The platform already supports authors removing their own artefacts, and teachers unpublishing work back to the school sandbox.

Publishing and moderation

TODO — Explain who can publish, and what happens when content is reported or flagged.

Drafting note (from engineering)

Only teachers publish work to the community; students never can. Anyone can report content. Posts are automatically screened and anything flagged as high risk is hidden until a person reviews it. Removed content is retained in an audit log rather than erased.

Safeguarding

TODO — Explain, without alarming anyone, that content suggesting someone may be at risk is escalated to the project team, and name the route for raising a concern.

Leaving YAIRN

TODO — Say how someone stops taking part and what happens to their work. No account-deletion path is built yet, so this must describe a real manual process.

Changes to these terms

TODO — Explain how people are told about changes.

Contact

TODO — Give a monitored address for questions and complaints.
